Recently, under the inspection and supervision of Chenghai Customs, a batch of 21.15 tons of live clams, live oysters and chilled oysters from Shantou Yihong Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. was shipped to the Hong Kong market. On the same day, a batch of 10.5 tons of beef balls from Chaoshi Frozen Food Factory in Chenghai District, Shantou City also successfully cleared customs and was delivered to the dining tables of Hong Kong citizens.
“After the Hong Kong epidemic broke out, we were originally quite worried that shipments would be affected. Fortunately, with the support of a series of Customs measures such as reviewing and inspecting upon declaration, our products have been smoothly exported to Hong Kong,” said Chen Weiqun, General Manager of Shantou Yihong Aquatic Products Co., Ltd.
It is understood that to ensure the timely supply of food produced by local enterprises to Hong Kong, Chenghai Customs responded to enterprises’ needs promptly, opened a business consultation channel for Hong Kong-bound food, and assigned special personnel to answer enterprises’ inquiries about relevant businesses. In view of the characteristics of local major Hong Kong-bound aquatic products and beef balls, such as being perishable and fragile, the Customs provided convenient measures including “inspection upon declaration” and 24-hour appointment-based customs clearance, accelerated the time limit for application acceptance, inspection and other links, and minimized the inspection declaration time. In addition, the Customs also strengthened daily supervision, helped enterprises improve the scientific, standardized and normalized level of aquatic product breeding by distributing technical materials and conducting safety briefings, and guided enterprises to carry out safe production.
“Thank you to the Customs for reminding us to do a good job in raw material procurement, adjust production plans, and guiding us to establish a quality management system. With improved product quality, we are more confident in expanding exports,” said Mr. Zhang, General Manager of Chaoshi Frozen Food Factory in Chenghai District, Shantou City. Since March, the factory has supplied 26.6 tons of beef balls to Hong Kong.
